Worple entered two teams in the C8 Debating competition that was held at Alexandra Primary School. The Year 5 team had to argue that all junk food should be banned whereas the Year 6 team had to push the notion that sports stars are bad role models for young people. Both teams performed very well and out of the eight schools, the Year 6 Team came 2nd.
Author Cate Douglas reading the book Poppy’s tail. Children thoroughly enjoyed the story and got to try on a variety of tails. They also had the opportunity to ask questions about the process of writing and illustrating a book.
On the 25th of June 2019, Year 1 went on a school trip to Hampton Court Palace. We visited the kitchens, the chapel, the apartments and the beautiful gardens. The children’s favourite part was seeing the crown. At the end we had some down time playing in Bushy Park.
Nursery and Reception classes enjoyed a learning visit to South Street Green Grocers and South Street Ice Cream café. The looked at, touched and tasted some of the fruits and vegetables and were surprised to find that broad beans felt ‘velvety’ and that lychees felt ‘spiky’. The Green Grocer cut up a watermelon in front of the children and they were delighted to see how it looked inside! We ought some strawberries to try and a cucumber for the guinea pigs. We then each had a free ice cream from the ice cream café, choosing from a range of flavours from blue banana to Malteaser. Please take time to support these fantastic local businesses, right on our doorstep!
