C8 Bake Off Round 1

This week we held round 1 of the Great C8 Bake off. Round 1 involved children creating cupcakes at home. A winner was selected from each year group. The competition was fierce this year and choosing a single winner from each year group was quite the challenge.

Year 6 Winner - Jude

Year 5 Winner - Kenzie

Year 4 Winners - Aneira & Cerys

Congratulations ot the above who will go through to round 2 - the technical challenge. For this the children will be given a set recipe and ingredients then complete the challenge in school under the watchful eye of the staff’s star baker - Mrs Millward. The winner of round 2 will go through to the final - The Show Stopper!

C8 Debating Competition 2019

Worple entered two teams in the C8 Debating competition that was held at Alexandra Primary School. The Year 5 team had to argue that all junk food should be banned whereas the Year 6 team had to push the notion that sports stars are bad role models for young people. Both teams performed very well and out of the eight schools, the Year 6 Team came 2nd.

Early Years Visit to South Street

Nursery and Reception classes enjoyed a learning visit to South Street Green Grocers and South Street Ice Cream café. The looked at, touched and tasted some of the fruits and vegetables and were surprised to find that broad beans felt ‘velvety’ and that lychees felt ‘spiky’. The Green Grocer cut up a watermelon in front of the children and they were delighted to see how it looked inside! We ought some strawberries to try and a cucumber for the guinea pigs. We then each had a free ice cream from the ice cream café, choosing from a range of flavours from blue banana to Malteaser. Please take time to support these fantastic local businesses, right on our doorstep!
