Music Implementation
Our music curriculum is delivered through Charanga and a range of cross-curricular links. Charanga is a comprehensive scheme of work that is in line with the National Curriculum and ensures that children listen, sing, play, perform and evaluate music.
The scheme allows children to become actively involved in developing their singing, how to use whole body actions and body percussion, learn how to play and handle instruments and effectively create and appreciate their own and other’s music.
As well as Charanga, the children also learn through the Ableton and BBC Ten pieces scheme, to ensure children have a wide knowledge of musical composers and genre. Music is also delivered through singing assemblies, instrument lessons and various concerts and performances.
Impact
Having access to varied programmes allows the children to discover their areas of strength, whilst also focusing on the areas that they wish to improve on. Our children are able to develop their self-confidence, self-reflection, and awareness of others, whilst also gaining a sense of achievement.
We ensure that progression is measured through pupil voice, photo and video evidence and using the assessment tools provided within the Charanga scheme.
For all of our children, we aim to foster a life-long love and increasing enthusiasm for music.
