The Christmas Tree Campaign began with one tree outside New Scotland Yard in Westminster. This tree was decorated with individual tags, which gave information on how to buy a present for a child in care. These presents were then handed in to Police Officers, who would distribute them to children.
To advertise this Campaign, every year there is a poster with a picture designed by a Primary School child. This year, in every borough a winning poster will be chosen. All Borough winners, along with their families, will be invited to New Scotland Yard to watch the Commissioner switch on the lights to the main Christmas tree and also to the Metropolitan Police Christmas Carol service at Westminster Abbey.
The Commissioner and the overall poster designed winner will switch on the Christmas tree lights.
Please could all entries be returned by Thursday 7th November to your class teacher.
